The Poltava State Medical and Dental University is located in the heart of POLTAVA. A major international, business, cultural and communication centre and one of the most beautiful and historical cities of the world.

According to the Chronicle, Prince Ihor Svyatoslavovych Siverskyi in 1174, pursuing hordes of Kobyak and Konchak, Polovets khans, crossed Ltava river, and moved in the direction of Pereyaslov, where prince’s armed forces defeated Polovets warriors.

This date had been decided to be the date of Poltava foundation until 1999. In 1974 it the Ukrainian people celebrated 800 years of Poltava. But the city was founded much earlier than it had been mentioned in the Chronicle. Further archaeological researches proved constant people’s residence in Poltava since VIII-IX centuries.

Today the administrative structure of the region comprises 25 districts5 cities of the regional submission, 10 cities of district submission, 21 towns1854 villages.

Climate is temperate, continental. Winter is relatively soft, with light frosts and frequent thaws. Summer is warm and dry. The hottest month is July, as a rule.

Poltava region is known for iron ore extraction, production and processing of oil and gas, manufacture of lorries, diamond tools, turbines, knitted wear, leather footwear, refined clothes, grains, sugar, vegetable oil, confectionery products etc.

About Poltava State Medical & Dental University, Ukraine

Poltava State Medical and Dental University started its operation in 1921 with faculty of Kharkiv Medical Academy. In 1967, the university is moved to the city of Poltava and named as Poltava Ukrainian Medical Stomatological (oral medicine) Academy (PUMSA).

In 1994, the Poltava Medical Dental University received the accreditation of Ukrainian Medical Dental Academy.

About 4000 students are studying in this academy. Out of them, 1200 are the foreigners from 42 countries.

Eligibility Criteria for Medicine Course

Students seeking admission to the first-year medical course should have at least a secondary-school certificate (or twelve years of education) with passing grades in chemistry, physics, biology and English. If English is not the applicant’s principal language, he or she must produce an official record of proficiency in English.

Students with a school certificate for ten or eleven years of study need to complete the Premedical Program: a one-year preparatory course. Classes in mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and English are the basis of this program, which offers students an opportunity to complete their higher secondary schooling. Upon completion, students receive the academy’s higher-school diploma and may enroll as first-year medical students.

NEET compulsion for MBBS in Abroad

Qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is mandatory for students seeking to pursue MBBS courses from foreign medical institutions, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has declared via a public notice on March 8, 2018.

The information, which had already been made public earlier by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) during the time of the release of the NEET notification in February 2018, has now been officially confirmed through the MCI notice. As per the MCI, the existing practice of issuing eligibility certificate to candidates desirous of pursuing MBBS abroad will be done away with from June 1, 2018, onwards and the result of NEET will be treated as the new eligibility certificate from thereon.

The notification clarifies that the new rule has been introduced by the MCI with approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The ‘Screening Tests Regulations 2002’ and ‘Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admissions in an undergraduate medical course in Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002’, which lay down the rules and regulations for candidates seeking to pursue or who already possess MBBS qualification from abroad, have been accordingly amended by the MCI.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam conducting body of NEET 2018, has published the MCI notice on its website on March 10, 2018, for the reference of NEET 2018 aspirants.
